The Drink-Drive 'rehabilitation' course I attended (to get my ban knocked down by 25%) was one of the most interesting and informative events I've ever attended. No, seriously.
So much so, that I took copious notes, and kept all the handouts. The spreadsheet I created, to predict how much you can knock back, and when you can then safely drive, is in (totally informal) use across many major companies, and by the Met.
I'll tell you all about it one day.

Constantly Furious: I've heard the same thing, my girlfriend's brother did traffic school as part of his job and said something very similar about it. He's said that since then he's drunk *more* before driving home, because he's been able to calculate precisely how long he has to wait before being under the limit.

I actually did quite a fair bit of research, but I was—I'll admit—floored by some of the BMA figures cited. This isn't entirely surprising since I have found out since that they were entirely made up (which I shall blog in a bit).

How to address 'ambushing with figures'?
Maybe, in response, ask if they will resign if the figures they are broadcasting to the public are found to be inaccurate and/or misleading - and make the argument,instead, about their lies? Brown's claim of NuLabour's points-based system reducing 'net migration' is a case in point.
I admit I may be hopelessly naive here, but it seems nowadays if there is no holding people to account they will say anything.
I don't suppose it occured to anyone to ask whether someone who drove at eighty MPH in a thirty MPH zone down the wrong side of the road did so because they were slightly over the limit, or because they were just unfit to drive per se. Probably unlicensed and uninsured too. The truth is You just can't fight the tide of bansturbation, its the new religion.
