Your humble Devil is in Peckham tomorrow, to take part in a debate on drink-driving, as part of BBC1's The Big Question. They are focusing on the North review of drink-driving laws—which is looking at dropping the alcohol limit—and whether this would be a "good" thing. As such, your humble Devil is spending some time researching current figures...
On Wednesday (hopefully—I've just about managed to clear my diary), I shall be having a five minute interview with The Daily Politics, as Andrew Neil does a short piece on the Libertarian Party as part of the BBC's focus on smaller political parties.
Provided I can stop myself from swearing, can a starring role in a major Hollywood blockbuster be far away...?
Making everyone happy is impossible. Pissing them off is a piece of cake. I like cake.

Woo exciting. Only Andrew Neil would talk to you. And if he doesn't manage to call you a far-right kitten torturer the Beeb will have him castrated.
Do look through Richard North's archives. This is all really an EU Harmonisation measure. Doesn't matter a damn what North (the scientists that is, not Richard) comes up with.
If only I'd known earlier.
The Drink-Drive 'rehabilitation' course I attended (to get my ban knocked down by 25%) was one of the most interesting and informative events I've ever attended. No, seriously.
So much so, that I took copious notes, and kept all the handouts. The spreadsheet I created, to predict how much you can knock back, and when you can then safely drive, is in (totally informal) use across many major companies, and by the Met.
I'll tell you all about it one day.
It didn't do us any harm.
DK: it's a bit of a gamble. saying cunt live on air certainly won't get you invited back to the beeb, but you might just make a headline ;)
Constantly Furious: I've heard the same thing, my girlfriend's brother did traffic school as part of his job and said something very similar about it. He's said that since then he's drunk *more* before driving home, because he's been able to calculate precisely how long he has to wait before being under the limit.
Hope you twatted Jade Goody's mum on the way out.
The audience - what a bunch of shits.
If I'm honest you seemed a bit out of depth, maybe you should have done more research eh? Not a good advertisement for LPUK....
Wonder how long before this comment gets 'moderated'?
Good performance DK, although I wouldn't say it was the best. Like SA, I too think that the audience were a bunch of shit. I did however at the time of watching it feel like choking James O'brian. Good to see you on TV. Good luck with Wednesday.
BB Wolf,
"If I'm honest you seemed a bit out of depth, maybe you should have done more research eh?
I actually did quite a fair bit of research, but I was—I'll admit—floored by some of the BMA figures cited. This isn't entirely surprising since I have found out since that they were entirely made up (which I shall blog in a bit).
"Not a good advertisement for LPUK...."
Whereas, of course, you would have been. (Plus, of course, I don't think that it's ever mentioned that I was a political party leader—only that I was this thing called a "libertarian".)
"Wonder how long before this comment gets 'moderated'?"
I don't moderate comments (except spam) so have no fear—your snide unpleasantness will stay here for all to see.
DK
How to address 'ambushing with figures'?
Maybe, in response, ask if they will resign if the figures they are broadcasting to the public are found to be inaccurate and/or misleading - and make the argument, instead, about their lies? Brown's claim of NuLabour's points-based system reducing 'net migration' is a case in point.
I admit I may be hopelessly naive here, but it seems nowadays if there is no holding people to account they will say anything.
I don't suppose it occured to anyone to ask whether someone who drove at eighty MPH in a thirty MPH zone down the wrong side of the road did so because they were slightly over the limit, or because they were just unfit to drive per se. Probably unlicensed and uninsured too. The truth is You just can't fight the tide of bansturbation, its the new religion.
