ClimateGate: Follow the money

(NB, It's me, the P-G)

I am struggling, manfully, to resist the temptation to reply to the ever-pertinent question:
Cui bono?
with the answer:
It transpires that there are two other rather better answers.

Iain, is this short enough?

The BBC has an 'expert' on the case:

Their link on the front page is

"Expert slams 'tabloid' climate e-mail row"

No agenda or bias there! Strangely, the headline of the article is less strident.

After a week of either ignoring or burying the story, the BBC are ramping up to present the "scientific (political) consensus"

vat carosel fraud depends on a phyisical product - such as mobile phones or computer chips.

the cool thing about carbon trading permits is that it allows vat fraud on a massive scale with none of the physical product hassle. to such an extent that the british government has lobbied to make carbon credits vat exempt.

have a guess how successful they were.

no need to answer that.

A satirical response to Monbiot (Dec 4) in the UK’s Guardian.

( see )
Mr Monbiot, bravo to you, sir!

You made a right mug of that old duffer, Lawson by ridiculing him with HadCRUT3 temperature series wheeze! I literally pissed myself when I read your ‘Guardian’ piece where you say, “What it actually shows is that eight out of the 10 warmest years since records began have occurred since 2001.” Corker! Mum’s the word now on that ‘reconstructed’ 1000 year record set ; )

No one came back at you with the 12 Oct 2009 email, either. You know the part - where that dullard, Trenberth says to Mann, “The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't…. Our observing system is inadequate.” Twat!

Trenberth and Jones are too much of a liability now. I’m starting to like that ‘apology’ you made more and more. I think I see where you’re taking this one ( thinking: sacrifices for the cause). The team talk in the locker room is Jones and Trenberth are plum scapegoats – throw them out and keep the integrity of the team intact, right? We may do something about this on RC. MM was wondering if you’d flim-flam some more in case someone does another ‘Trenberth’?

Btw, SM and his team of holocaust deniers over on CA and WUWT haven’t yet chewed over the lost 800+ ground- based climate-measuring stations from the official GIStemp. We might want to cull another set of ‘cold’ ground-based stations and augment the HadCRUT3 with a slew from China near some power stations (UHI?). Any thought?

Sorry to go off topic, but I have just seen the news that the Italians are also to be welcomed into the club of people - a club that also includes such celebrated members as the EU, the UN, Boneup, the UK Labour Party, and most climate scientists -- who combine a large amount of power with a large amount of being completely fucked in the head.

I found this comment in a discussion about the bizarre behaviour of Google when searching for 'climategate' (see It refers to the CRU e-mails:

There are some ructions – people in one of the main news channels are pressing their superiors but are getting a lock-down, and now the Times, the Daily Mail and Al Jazeera (an Arabic equivalent of CNN) are opening up. The scandal is causing a deep re-examination of the issues and the more the top tries to repress things, the more they will create rebellion in their junior ranks – which, incidently, is what I think happened at the UEA – the ‘hacked’ material has all the hallmarks of deleted files dumped and then retrieved internally and leaked – not sure if you know this already but the ‘hacker’ sent all the material to the BBC a month ago and they sat on it!

Has the allegation about the BBC been confirmed?

Global ETS is a flat tax on air, poor people don't like flat taxes. Global ETS will force the global poor to buy high technology off the rich world. The carbon emissions price (the rate of flat taxation) will be defined by financial derivative speculation amoung rich world capitalists. All this benefits the rich world over the poor.

Is it really surprising that the worlds poor is asking for compensation?

Well... I'm going to do my bit for Greenhouse gases. I will stop eating Pickled Onions, Cheese, Pickled Eggs and Brussels Sprouts in bed now... the Memsahib objects to the stench. I will eat my Pickles in the bath, and when I 'thunder and volley', it will be filtered by my bath water. The Memsahib doesn't mind this as she has a bath after I do. Since I am the 'Bhura Sahib' of my house, the Mem does as she is told.

I still think that the 'Carbon Trading of Derivatives' will be the biggest Ponzi Scam ever. It will make Bernie Maddoff's scam look like small beer. How else are International Banks. and Gubber-munts going to off-load their Bad Debt to the Stupid, Gullible and Greedy.

The Mem has suggested that I corner the markets in Pickled Eggs so that I don't run out.

I have also signed a Deposition that I truly am of 'Sound Mind' and am not barking!! funny I saw Pa McDoom signing a similar piece of paper *allegedly) to say that he has all his marbles...

This is doing the rounds in Australia and might interest your readers. It seems the opposition has thrown out this latest grab our money scheme to combat global warming.

The ETS tax (Emission Trading Scheme)

Let's put this into a bit of perspective for laymen!

ETS is another tax. It is equal to putting up the GST to 12.5% which would be unacceptable and produce an outcry.

Read the following analogy and you will realise the insignificance of carbon dioxide as a weather controller.

Pass on to all in your address book including politicians and may be they will listen to their constituents, rather than vested interests which stand to gain by the ETS.

Here's a practical way to understand Mr Rudd's Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme.

Imagine 1 kilometre of atmosphere and we want to get rid of the carbon pollution in it created by human activity.

Let's go for a walk along it.

The first 770 metres are Nitrogen.

The next 210 metres are Oxygen.

That's 980 metres of the 1 kilometre. 20 metres to go.

The next 10 metres are water vapour. 10 metres left.

9 metres are argon. Just 1 more metre.

A few gases make up the first bit of that last metre.

The last 38 centimetres of the kilometre - that's carbon dioxide. A bit over one foot.

97% of that is produced by Mother Nature. It’s natural.

Out of our journey of one kilometre, there are just 12 millimetres left. Just over a centimetre - about half an inch.

That’s the amount of carbon dioxide that global human activity puts into the atmosphere.

And of those 12 millimetres Australia puts in 0.18 of a millimetre.

Less than the thickness of a hair. Out of a kilometre!

As a hair is to a kilometre - so is Australia's contribution to what Mr. Rudd calls Carbon Pollution.

Imagine Brisbane's new Gateway Bridge, ready to be opened by Mr Rudd. It's been polished, painted and scrubbed by an army of workers till its 1 kilometre length is surgically clean. Except that Mr. Rudd says we have a huge problem, the bridge is polluted - there's a human hair on the roadway. We'd laugh ourselves silly.

There are plenty of real pollution problems to worry about.

It's hard to imagine that Australia's contribution to carbon dioxide in the world's atmosphere is one of the more pressing ones. And it’s hard to believe that a new tax on everything is the only way to blow that pesky hair away.

After all, the sun controls the climate on our planet, not human beings. Always has, always will. Only the arrogance of human beings over their own importance makes people think otherwise.

Incidentally, the planet has cooled by nearly one degree Celsius in the past hundred years - and that is a hard statistic, which puts the lie to those who claim that the planet has heated.

Pass this on quickly while the ETS is being debated in Federal Parliament.

We are just a step away from identifying “second hand carbon dioxide” risks and proceeding with the necessary regulation and legislation. In the first, “soft” phase, businesses will have to provide rooms where customers who chose to exhale CO2 will be sequestered. In the second phase, exhaling CO2 will be outlawed altogether.

During carousel fraud trials you'll find massive failure to make disclosure. If you've got an honest legal team you'll win but if your solicitor or barriter or both are in the hands of HMRC you'll lose.

The failure to make disclosure is because the frauds are set up by government agents who dupe innocent into the schemes.

Willis Eschenbach has produced a stunning exposure of the climate records con over on WUWT. His full summary can be found here:

Basically, Eschenbach shows the following:

First off we know that there are only three main global temperature datasets that the world’s climatologists can study. One is at the CRU, Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia, where we’ve been trying to get access to the raw numbers. One is at NOAA/GHCN, the Global Historical Climate Network. The final one is at NASA/GISS, the Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

These centres, before they let other scientists touch the numbers, process them to “homogenize” and smooth out any contamination that could occur from sudden changes in local circumstances ( eg a major road being built next door).

These three global temperature records are known as CRU, GISS, and GHCN. Both GISS and CRU, however, get almost all of their raw data from GHCN. Surprise, surprise all three centres produce very similar global historical temperature records from the raw data.

From the leaked Climategate emails we know climatologists admitted to some kind of fiddling - they ‘fudge’ and ‘hide the decline.’ For over three years they admit they subverted and denied FOI requests so that no outsiders could see just how they actually ‘homogenize’ the raw data.

Researcher, Willis Eschenbach, spent three long years studying the Australian measuring centres to try to understand how climatologists who compile the CRU, GISS, and GHCN homogenized the Aussie data sets to calculate the final numbers they hand out the the rest of the world’s scientists. What Eschenbach found is truly shocking.

Like anyone else who has read the leaked CRU emails, Eschenbach, knew CRU climatologists basically just use the Global Historical Climate Network (GHCN) dataset for its raw data. So he looked very closely at the GHCN dataset. What he was able to prove from analysing the Australian measuring centres was that the final figures that the CRU give to the IPCC are “adjusted” upwards by 2.0 degrees C. all across the board with no apparent reason or justification whatsoever.

Eschenbach focused his investigartions on an unexplained homogenization at a key temperature station known as ‘Darwin Zero’ where the raw data showed temperatures falling at 0.7 Celcius per century. But after CRU ‘homogenized’ them the temperatures shot up to show warming at 1.2 Celcius per century – an adjustment of over two degrees per century with nothing in the records to explain why Darwin needed to be hiked up like this. What angered him even more was that there was no apparent reason to ‘homogenize’ any of the data from the Darwin region because CRU had possession of temperature readings from no less than five other nearby sites covering Darwin from 1941 onwards. Despite the fact they all agreed almost exactly with each other someone at CRU decided to tag on another whopping two degrees even though all Darwin’s records were apparently already highly reliable and didn’t need ‘homogenization.’

Eschenbach concluded that he has found “indisputable evidence that the “homogenized” data has been changed to fit someone’s preconceptions about whether the earth is warming.”

This makes perfects sense now as to why CRU and NASA, who for several years have unlawfully blocked every freedom of information request to properly and independently audit their ‘homogenizing’ techniques.

Climategate has exposed the scam for what it is – a bunch of tricksters adding a few degrees here and there to the true temperature records to falsely show a warming trend which merely exists in their imaginations. Because if they can show their government fund givers that there is a climate ‘crisis’ then they will not only be given further research grants but will also be giving the politicians a perfect excuse to raise green taxes.
