In his professional capacity, your humble Devil has been (as regular readers may know) designing a new piece of web software—specifically a content management system.
At the company meeting this afternoon, my colleague and I demo'ed one of the workflows from the user interface (UI) to the directors and the rest of the company. And it looked really cool whilst massively enhancing the functionality.
Comments from the Chairman (a man who has made a million or few from taking small software companies into the larger arena) included: "this is the future of the company" and "seriously: this is the Google of content manangement software. This is unique."
Frankly, my dear readers, right now your humble Devil feels like Dave McKean and Steve fucking Jobs, i.e. I am on a massive high (and invoking my heroes is, obviously, the best way to express this!).
The CMS is slated for release early next year, and I just can't wait...
... because then I have plans for expanding the scope of the business...
Making everyone happy is impossible. Pissing them off is a piece of cake. I like cake.

Have you considered inventing a round moving thing attached to a spindle of some sort to aid locomotion? Could be really useful ;)
Best of luck mate.
Can you post some sneak preview screenshots? :P
I knew that Mr Kitchen back before he got all rich and famous.
Well done you.
Look forward to hearing more when you hit the market.
Have you a mailing list to be kept informed of developments?
Well done DK. I know all too well the difficulties in getting people to understand what you have developed and its wider application.
In a couple of years time, after tireless charitable and political work - arise Sir Devil.

That'll be drinks all round, then?
Mine's a pint.
Cheers!
I am very pleased.
You know your stuff, DK. You understand the idea of technology being bent to serve the purpose, not the other way around.
Well deserved. A rare event. Suck up the feeling.
When's the launch party?!
Looking forward to the party :-)
Well done with the CMS developments - I have no doubt that future users will thank you muchly!
Congratulations DK..
Hard work really does pay, even with the states hindrance..
Well done..
Don't understand a word of it, but well done DK.
Don't let the Jews steal your patent!
No, Darren, you just don't understand.
Ah WANT a BAAAAAAABY!!!!
I'll drink to that whatever you are on about !
Seriously though- well done
Congrats DK.
All the best for the launch.
Dominic
Its beyond me.
However should the system take off saleswise who will make all the money.
By the sound of it your boss and the directors will.
If you get a good slice of the action, dont piss the money against the nearest wall nor engage in substance abuse.
Good luck to you and well done
If your company needs a qbasic version for ms-dos give me shout...

Fuck off, you fucking saddo. Go masturbate over linux and stop shitting up this thread with your Fail and AIDs.
Would one of you pasty faced, pencil necked, metrosexual IT nerdlingers be kind enough to explain what a " content management system " actually is ?
And why it's going to make someone rich ?
Try and frame your response as if you were talking to a bright 10 year old, so I can understand what the fuck you are talking about.
@hsld
It's a mechanism for automatically arranging and keeping track of the 5 terabytes of pornography that every denizen of Teh Intarwebz has on their hard drive.
It ensures that your series of tubes never gets clogged.
DK - I think the NHS/BT need you, especially if you live anywhere near The Royal Free or Barts.
Good for you - now go check the small print of your contract & I mean really check it.
If your product is really really good, the Chairman will be reaching to the Vaseline jar already.
Trust me .... I've been there!
"Have you a mailing list to be kept informed of developments?"
Not yet, although if you are seriously interested then do please drop me an email and I shall let you know when we are a little further along the line.
"Can you post some sneak preview screenshots? :P"
Ha! They wouldn't look like much, I'm afraid. It is what happens when you actually start engaging with the software which is where it gets interesting.
Although I have done a very rough screen-demo video.
"However should the system take off saleswise who will make all the money."
I have share options, and the option to buy more (but not, after the RBS share price collapse, the money, currently).

CMS is so 2006!
Good bits - your skills have been recognised.
Bad bits - there is a recession going on and you are entering a market dominated by free products (Wordpress, TypePad and Joomla)
Ride the good feeling that the recognition gives you but don't put a deposit on a Ferrari yet!
"... you are entering a market dominated by free products (Wordpress, TypePad and Joomla)"
Not in the professional world, it isn't! There is a massive suspicion of Open Source and big companies shy away.
Besides, as you know, I am very familiar with these other options: I have designed and developed a differentiator that Open Source simply cannot match.
