The mood has been leavened slightly by a new toy. No, for once it is not yet another Mac: yes, I have now joined the ranks of those who own motor cars. Mine takes the form of a 1990 Toyota Corolla with a mere (and verifiable) 20,000 miles on the clock. Anyway, it looks pretty good and seems to drive well—although the automatic transmission is a novelty to me—and I am mildly excited to be joining a whole new world of expensive bills.
Anyway, I suspect that I shall be able to spend more time with the blog from now on and, after I get out of this low, I am sure that I shall be fit to rant and rage at the corrupt bastards who rule us. One of these days, I might run out of incredulity, anger and swearwords but it doesn't look like it's going to happen soon.
In the meantime, I have been much enjoying the comedy stylings of Flight of the Conchords, so here's If You're Into It for you all to enjoy.
It's makes me smile gently anyway...
P.S. I need to construct an HTML stationery template for Outlook Express on Windows today but, obviously, don't have Outlook or Windows. If anyone could email me one of the .htm files this afternoon, that would be amazing. You can find them on your
C Drive
, here: Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery
If you are lucky, you may earn my undying gratitude...
UPDATE: thanks to all who sent templates. Undying gratitude winging its way to you all...

You'll never want to go back to a manual after a few weeks. Especially when driving in town... :D
I might run out of incredulity, anger and swearwords
As I said to you earlier, I know how you feel. I never thought I would, but I'm beginning to wonder...
I sometimes wonder whether the sheer volume of iniquity and incompetence displayed by our "betters" could finally lead you through the anger stage to a state of complete speechlessness.
I passed my test in a manual transmission car in '94 but have never actually owned a car of my own.
When I was over in the US recently my girlfriend was generous (or daft) enough to let me get behind the wheel of her eeevil, gas-guzzling Durango.
Oh, the joy of not having to worry about what bloody gear you're in...
Good luck - I've found that driving is like riding a bike - you never actually forget how to control a car; the only problem is the other people on the road and anticipating what they're going to do next. That's always been my problem anyway, and I'm thinking of taking a few refresher lessons.
It's hardly surprising you've been depressed.
If I had a Mac, I'd be depressed too.
Off to play Age of Conan now...
The thought of you driving scares me. But no manual gear box? Madness. How can you drive it properly if you can't select the gear yourself?
'I might run out of incredulity, anger and swearwords'
You are out of touch with this driving lark, aren't you? A couple of weeks and all three should have increased dramatically
