Charting the warming waters

As few days back, I relayed some information, from Climate Sceptic Skeptic, concerning this GISS (the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies) chart of the progress of global warming.

Climate Skeptic's first problem with the chart was pretty simple.
I had many issues with this chart, not the least of which was the fact that it fills in data for large swaths of the earth for which we have no data. However, another point I made was that the GISS is essentially fibbing here by using a straight cylindrical projection of the Earth. We all know from junior high school that there are a lot of ways to project the globe onto a flat sheet of paper, all of which are imperfect.

However, for a chart like this, one really needs an equal area projection. In an equal area projection, a square inch at the equator represents the same surface area as a square inch at the poles. The GISS is NOT using an equal area projection. In fact, in the projection they are using, the area at the poles is wildly exaggerated. Since the north pole is the area of the earth with the most anomolous measured warming, the chart visually overstates the amount of global warming.

That's pretty difficult to argue with really. However, Warren has found a very useful little tool that allows him to produce this very much more accurate global chart, below.

There, that's better, eh? That doesn't look nearly so alarming, does it now? So, why did GISS put out the first chart?

Now, one might just believe that, perhaps, all of the competent guys at GISS were out to lunch, or something, and that only the first year retards were on duty, apart from one amusing fact.
This tool was so simple it took me less than 10 seconds to make this reprojection. But here is the hilariously ironic part: The source of this fabulous tool that the GISS should have used is ... the GISS! Here is the tool on the GISS site. It's free and a lot of fun.

Now, I'm not for a second implying that GISS deliberately put out an overly alarmist chart... Oh, no, wait: yes I am. What a bunch of lying scum these climate scientists are.

And, meanwhile, in the real world, the big freeze continues...
Now, Canadian scientists are seeking additional funding for more and better "eyes" with which to observe our sun, which has a bigger impact on Earth's climate than all the tailpipes and smokestacks on our planet combined. And they're worried about global cooling, not warming.

Given the devastating effects even short periods of intense cold can produce, bringing one country to the edge of a humanitarian crisis, we had better hope these scientists' worries are unfounded. If they are not, the "warmists" are going to have some explaining to do, as they will have been crying "dog", while the wolf is at the back door.

I want to point out to you all that, very soon, all of the global warming enthusiasts are going to look pretty bloody stupid. And that will be the end of The Kitchen.

Because I will have laughed myself to death...

Compare and contrast the negative effects of both colder and warmer climates and you will soon see that the human races choice is clear.

Colder climates - crop failures, freezing to death, bulky clothes that make it impossible to tell if a woman is fit or not, larger heating bills, wooly mammoths, russian accents.

Warmer climates - Eye strain from perving at hot chicks in skimpy clothes, greasy hands from applying sunscreen to swedish bikini models back, having to purchase expensive surf boards and board shorts, and the dreaded hang over from too many pina coladas.

Now will all of those miserable depressive marxist eco-wankers fuck off and let us finish with the tropicalisation of the planet already?

Plus, of course, warming or cooling, you won't have to mow the lawn as often.
