Tevor Phillips is a stupid, ignorant, dangerous cunt

Trevor Phillips has proposed that British history is not debased and biased against our achievements enough. He is a lackwit fuckwit cunt who should find the nearest river and drown himself in it.
British history should be rewritten to make it "more inclusive", says Trevor Phillips, the head of the new human rights and equality commission.

New? Oh, right, it's not the Commission for Racial Equality anymore. The new agency does, however, appear to be made up of exactly the same evil little turds, just on (I would imagine) much higher salaries.
He said Muslims were also part of the national story and "sometimes we have to go back into the tapestry and insert some threads that were lost".

Ah, or rewrite history to make it rather more palatable to your delicate senses, eh, Trev? When you mean "insert some threads", do you mean "falsify history in order to suit your disgustingly racist agenda"? Yes, I think that you might.
"And if there is a practical thing, I would say it is that we need to revisit some parts of that national heritage. to rewrite some parts of that national story to tell the whole story."

Lots of famous people have been very keen on doing that kind of thing, Trevor. You know, people like Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and Hitler; would you propose starting by burning the old history books—in bonfires on the street, for instance—so that no one can gainsay your rewritten version. I think that's probably best, don't you? Otherwise people might find these filthy, non-inclusive versions of history and get entirely the wrong idea.

But your humble Devil is a merciful Devil and will give you the benefit of the doubt, until he sees what kind of thing you propose.
He quoted the example of the Spanish Armada, which was held up by the Turks at the request of Queen Elizabeth I.

"It was the Turks who saved us," Mr Phillips told a Labour fringe meeting.

"When we talk about the Armada it's only now that we are beginning to realise that part of it is Muslims," Mr Phillips told the meeting.

"It was the Turks who saved us, because they held up Armada at the request of Elizabeth I.

Erm... Trev? You are talking through your fat arse, you fascist fuck. Here's The Reptile explaining why.
Nice story, but it's unfortunately at best grossly misleading, and at worst flatly untrue. The argument, put forward by Dr Jerry Brotton, is that Elizabeth I sought an understanding with the Ottoman Empire (not Turkey, for God's sake - it was 350 years before Turkey was created) that the latter would continue to threaten Spain in the Mediterranean, thereby reducing the number of ships available to the Spanish.
"If the Armada had been bigger it would have taken Britain," said Dr Jerry Brotton.

And that's pretty damn tendentious too. The main reason that the Armada was defeated was that, even though it massively outnumbered the English navy, it was qualitatively inferior in seamanship and gunnery - a larger fleet would have meant more logistical problems - which were already considerable - and not much more chance of victory. In any event, the Turkish 'influence' was insignificant.
The letter, ordered the ambassador, William Harborne, to incite the Turks to harry the Spanish navy. It was written in the mid-1580s

It was written in 1584 or 1585, 3-4 years before the Armada, and had no impact on Turkish policy, because they were busy at the time in the Balkans. It's nonsense.

Oh dear, Trevor; it seems that you need to look at your history books again, you stupid fuck. Still, what else do you propose?
Mr Phillips said he had also been persuaded of the need for a written constitution, saying the UK needed to be "more explicit in our understanding about how we treat each other".

Quite apart from my immediate reaction—which is, "go fuck yourself, fuckface"—Vindico points out the flaw in this most excellent and beaudacious idea from Mr Right-On.

Quite. I would imagine that it is not the kind of Constitution that Trevor Phillips has in mind; what he would like to see probably includes clauses that involve "positive discrimination" and "of all races regardless of ability" and other such sops.

You are a fuckwit, Trevor: but, worse than that, you are a dangerous fuckwit. Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest of PC...?

Tell us about the million plus indiginous inhabitants of the british isles that were abducted by these "friends"and sold, raped and abused, in the fantastically "vibrant"slave markets of good old islam, then catch a plane to guyana, and climb back up your tree with your simian relatives and write your own history if it consists of anything other than a bumper year for bananas.

Your article makes mine seem positively friendly to Trevor Phillips, I am impressed...

I suppose that would explain why you are number 8 and I am a lowly number 90 in Iain Dale's Top 100 Right of Centre Blogs.

Trevor misses a few points: The sultan would not really be interested in a non muslim land far beyond his empire.

Although they had a decent sized navy, it was still not up the size of that beaten by the Italians and others at the battle of Lepanto in 1571.

The Ottomans were tied down fighting both in what in now Iran and also in Europe, so no men/ships spare either way for a war with Spain.

As sultans go Murad III was more interested in orgies and slave girls and siring children. 103 of them in total!

I fear that this may be down to my relative longevity rather than anything else...

This is supposition and presumption built upon conjecture.

Trevor Phillips is just employed to find out ways to justify his own salary.

C4 did an interesting programme on African exploitation the other day. Shame the presenter repeated a lie that he himself had found out to his utter embarassment to be false on a previous C4 show. Did not stop him slipping in the meme though - "when my forefathers were snatched from thee shores by white slavers". No, my old friend, YOUR relatives SOLD your forefather's ASS to other blacks who THEN sold them on, as they had been doing for centuries before the white slavers arrived and realised the trade was in progress.

If there's one thing that never fails to grind my gears it's the altering and twisting of things to fit a PC agenda. Trevor Philips should be tied to the back of a cart and horsewhipped round the boundaries of his town before being put in the stocks for a week. Perhaps that'll teach him not to make stuff up in order to satisy his personal agenda.

I wrote last night to Dr Brotton, who teaches English, not history, as follows :

"Dear Dr Brotton,

Your 2004 Hay Festival lecture is in the news again, via Trevor Phillips' interpretation. But all I know of it is the 2004 Guardian report which boils down to :

"Walsingham hoped that Islamic forces might keep the Spanish forces "thoroughly occupied" by "some incursions from the coast of Africa", or by attacking his Italian territories from the sea."

Followed by "Walsingham's plan was ultimately successful. Ottoman fleet movements in the eastern Mediterranean fatally split Philip II's armada".

It sounds as if the Guardian report missed out the crucial link - the evidence that

a) Harborne successfully induced the Turks to harass Spanish possessions or otherwise threaten Spain, over and above the existing semi-endemic warfare
b) that this had a material impact on the Armada

Have you a transcript or copy of the lecture - or references to the evidence for a) and b) ? If so could you please mail me copies/references ?"

No reply as yet. I think it's going to be difficult to prove that anything in the Med had an effect on the Armada - as the Med fleet were all galleys, pretty much useless in ocean waters and hopelessly undergunned for fighting ships with a broadside of iron cannon. Four were sent and all turned round in the Bay of Biscay when a storm blew up.

I forgot to mention - when Brotton unveiled his thesis two years ago I blogged it and did some research on UK-Ottoman relations.

Very friendly. Archbishop Parker has a style like yours but with less swearing :

"The Turk goeth about to set up, to extol, and to magnify that wicked monster and dammed soul Mohumet above thy dearly beloved Son Jesus Christ, whom we in heart believe, and with mouth confess, to be our only Saviour and redeemer. Wherefore awake, O Lord our God and heavenly Father ..."

"First, the Turke with his sword, what landes, nations, and countreys, what empires, kingdomes, and provinces, with cities innumerable hath he wonne, not from us but from Thee! Where thy name was wont to be invocated, thy word preached, thy sacraments administered, there now reigneth barbarous Mahumet with his filthy Alcoran."

This guy obviously votes for the BNP. From his writing we know who the fascist is. Rascist like him have a brain size equal to a fish.

Oh yeah? So what has happened for the last ten years, exactly?

Over at the ASI, they are posting some of the winning entries of the Young Writers on Liberty. One does not want to put such keen minds off,...
