Charlie Falconer is to maintain that human rights are "as British as beer". That'll have them rolling in the aisles, Charlie, because they're not as British as those things that you and your filthy government cronies keep trying to abolish; things like habeas corpus, trial by jury and the presumption of innocence, you fat cunt.

ECHR was written mostly by British lawyers, is based on principles derived from our own common law where it really matters (i.e. the articles dealing with criminal justice and the prohibition og torture), and was driven through the Council of Europe by a British PM - Winston Churchill.

You can't get much more British than that, which is why its so alarming to see ECHR being attacked by a British government.
