Comedy that writes itself

On a lighter note...

Television stars Lionel Blair and Alan Carr have helped save a man about to fall from the end of a Blackpool pier.

...

"We got there and there was a man clinging on," said Mr Carr, star of Channel 4's Friday Night Project.

Picking up the story, Mr Blair added: "We got his hand and said, 'Come on, you don't want to die. You can't do that. Listen to us'.

"He did a double take, but then said, 'No I want to go'.

I can only imagine the horror of the pier attendant, rushing into the bar to seek help, as with sinking heart he realised the only people around to convince this desperate man that life is worth living were Alan Carr and Lionel Blair.

Presumably this sunken hearted pier attendent's spirits were lifted again, for in this case Messrs Blair and Carr seem to have risen to the occasion with typical showbiz flair.

It could have been worse, much worse. Imagine if it had been Tony Blair instead of Lionel.....?
