The Tories must change the language of politics

Over at our O'Rourke-inspired Reptile blog, Floreat Aula talks about "the elephant in the room".
However it is not enough for the Tories to say 'cut taxes' - that is always too easy to paint as 'slash services' and like drug addicts the increasingly feckless public need their fix. No - first we must change the language, pointing out all the time that government doesnt have any money, it just takes yours. That every single penny spent in public investment represents value taken from you. That every time a council recruits a lesbian (pre-teen) outreach commissioner it makes it that bit harder for you to take your kids on holiday.

One can never emphasise this enough: the government has no money. The only moey it has is that which it steals of us in taxes. Governments do not create wealth, they only spend the fruits of other people's work. There are some things which governments are best doing, but they should do the minimum possible and we should never expect them to do it efficiently.

We will spend our money most efficiently and we should resist, to the last, the gevernment's efforts to take yet more of it from us, for they will only piss it up the wall. We must remind them that they work for us...
