I promise that the Charles Clarke kicking is coming; alas, I had to delay it owing to last night's drunken shenanigans. I have to work now, and then I'm off to a mate's stag do later on. So, I'm guessing that it will be Sunday afternoon afore anything gets posted.

In the meantime, why not check out my second cousin twice removed? That's right, Barry Beelzebub's weekly roundup is here for your delectation...

Hi DK,

Not sure if you got my e-mail but thought this might be germane to your post about the safety elephant? He deserves an ASBO as well as a good kicking.

Can't find the posting you made a few weeks back where you were worrying about the awful notion that the public sector might be growing bloated at the expense of private - so in what's no doubt a breach of blogging etiquette I wanted you to see the link http://business.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=373502006

"GAINS in new business helped drive the growth of private sector output in Scotland to an eight-month high last month. And manufacturing output rose at its fastest pace since July 2004, suggesting a broader base of growth."

So it seems that we CAN grow together - gives me a warm glow, don't know about you!!

All totally irrelevant to your original post here - sorry.....

Cheers, Anon; that's actually quite interesting. Especially as I think that my original post was also based on - obviously a rather more apocalyptic - Scotsman article...
