In common with other blogs, I feel that I should mark this fine day: 200 years since Nelson and the British fleet of 27 ships, defeated a combined French/Spanish fleet of 33 ships at Trafalgar. Personally, I think that we should have a public holiday.
This would set a wonderful precedent of having a holiday every time that we have a special anniversary of kicking the crap out of the French or Spanish: we'd probably get an extra month a year! However, I doubt it will happen—in fact, I'm surprised that the government aren't ruthlessly clamping down on celebrations, for fear of offending our European "allies".
As a celebration, and this is very cool, The Monarchist is liveblogging the battle...!
Making everyone happy is impossible. Pissing them off is a piece of cake. I like cake.
