Right, that's it; I mean, I can bear backing a loser. I know that I'm going to lose money if that loser doesn't win (in increased taxes from this sodding Labour government, obviously) but there is no way that I am going to back a loser who punches me in the face after I've helped them to win.
I am talking, of course, of the Conservatives who, in my personal opinion, deserve to not only lose, but also to each personally receive a kick in the shins from the voters.
I have voted Conservative for my entire voting life (ten years, in case you were wondering) but that is going to stop: why? Because the little bastards have come out in support of ID cards, and the commensurate database. There is no way that I am going to vote for them now.
There are any number of reasons why ID cards are a very bad thing—I suggest that you visit the No2ID campaign, to whom I have already offered my services—if you would like a brief summary. However, essentially I believe that—along with the EU Constitution—ID cards are the biggest issue in politics today.
What happened to the conservative idea (one can no longer say "Tory idea") of small government and personal responsibility?
I am disgusted. Another vote that Howard has lost.
(P.S. I still have that Private Eye which bears a picture of Michael Howard, and the legend, "LUNATIC. The Eye says: if we are wrong, let him sue us". How true, chiz.)
