Chutzpah

Richard Murphy—a man retired from a profession only slightly less despised than that of lawyers—waxes lyrical about the right-wing blogosphere again.
[The "right wing blogosphere"] seem to be the ultimate definition of negativity—talk, and obstruction to all action for the common good.

I wonder if they ever actually created anything?

I'm sorry but... What?

I am a software designer and general creative artist. I have created hundreds of pieces of artwork for theatre shows, businesses, think tanks and charities, and designed and created a lot of software that enables people to be more productive in their work.

Richard, on the other hand, was an accountant.

And he is wondering if I have created anything...?

Timmy, of course, has a reply too...

I think he only says things like this because it boosts his viewing figures, which must be made up predominantly by libertarians and the like going there to see if he really is as much of a cunt as they remember him being. And he really is.

ahh...but he's not even retired, is he? He may not be in the pay of an employer, but he is still an full time (ish) Tax accountant. Self employed it seems, and very much with a political agenda, but still basically a tax accountant offering his expertise (such as it is) to people who rent him by the hour.
oh...and chutzpah normally requires a little self-awareness. This is closer to hubris. Much closer.

So if the "right wing blogoshphere" has created nothing, but the "left wing blogosphere" still find this an obstruction, how pathetic must they be?

I'm an accountant... please don't despise me. Skills to pay the bills, y'know.

I have every respect for my accountant. Accountants are our leading line of defence against the thieving scum of the Revenue.

He's an accountant who didn't make it as an accountant and thought it might be a lark to be an economist. You don't need to have much in the way of qualifications other than the ability to talk bollocks. He's done this and blagged his way into the lefty groups by promoting their issues.

Don't be too hard on accountants, some of them are really quite creative individuals... Some of the greatest works of fiction of the 20th/21st Centuries have been company accounts. :-)

Blimey, my old haunting grounds. Used to drink in The Stillage, now the called The Station, thanks to Google Earth & various blogs for that info. Was there on a Christmas Eve when a guy got glassed & bled to death. I remember most of the pub piling down the road to The Red House, now O'Neill's because we were pissed & wanted to be even more pissed up before the evening ended & ignoring the police who wanted a statement. I still feel guilty about that!

I'm a right-wing artistic type too & my other half is an accountant of sorts. It's a small world.

Note that anyone leaving a comment along the lines of "And what exactly have you, as an accountant, created?" on his blog gets it deleted. Apparently his abusive and economically illiterate comments are OK, but any form of dissent is Verboten.

Witless fuck. I have built a new and novel business from scratch. I call that highly fucking 'creative'. Oh, and I've 'created' real wealth in the process. Wanker.
