Don't let the MPs off the hook

NB - I am not the Devil.

You will undoubtedly have seen the various gloomy news stories in the last few days about attempts to water down Sir Christopher Kelly's excellent proposals for reforming MPs' expenses. Sad to report, most of these news stories are pretty accurate. There is a concerted effort going on from many MPs who are hoping that a last minute lobbying campaign targeted at IPSA, the expenses quango, will secure them a fudge on the issue. IPSA itself has failed to rule out just such a fudge, and certainly seems more faint-hearted than Kelly.

We can stop them, however. IPSA are compelled - by law - to consult the public on what form the new system should take. That consultation is now underway, and it is incumbent on every single one of us to respond to it with the firm message that Parliament must be cleaned up and cleaned out.

The TPA have a guide to the consultation, question by question, here. The IPSA consultation itself can be found here. Let's keep hammering them.

Excellent. I've just completed the on-line form and would urge all readers to do so.

I think the Mussolini type hook would be the most appropriate.

Also filled in the online form - about half an hour if you think about it.
