The Devil rides out once more

Just as a quick reminder, your humble Devil will be at the Adam Smith Institute—23 Great Smith Street, Westminster—on Tuesday night, from about 6.30pm. In a talk entitled New From Old: A Friendly Society, I shall be addressing the need for a Libertarian Party and what Welfare under a Libertarian government might look like—all in ten minutes. The Facebook page is here...

I was briefly considering addressing the evil that is the government's mini-Enabling Acts but, frankly, I didn't want to depress people—discussing how we might solve this mess seems a much better topic for a cold November evening.

On Thursday, your humble Devil shall be sallying forth to stroll the streets of Westminster with Old Holborn. Last year's walk—which must have attracted twenty or so people—was a lot of fun, and I fully intend to push as much beer down my throat as I did last year.

I wonder if the Guys will be stopped again? Only time will tell—but perhaps you'd like to join us...

Let them try and stop me.

I am so much, so very very much angrier than last year.

See you Thursday

We are being joined by Guido, Anna Raccoon, Tory Bear, GUY TV, the Love Police, the BBC, Channel 4, the Times, the Telegraph, the Sun and many, many more.

I would be joining you, but for the fact that I am now ensconced on the western coast of Canada. We still have habeas corpus here, it's brill!

Have a great day! With you in spirit.

At least no "coppers" will be filming you there AP

I'll be there Thursday, but hopefully part of a bigger crowd than we were last year.

If searched this time, I want my s44 from the female. If not, I shall be offended and complain.

If I'm up in time I will attend, it was a privilege to be part of the first stroll last year.

Unfortunately I cannot make either event. Good luck with both of them, though. And it will be interesting to see whether the police (again) stop the Guys for exercising their legitimate right to protest...

@OH:

No, the police don't seem to be quite as drunk on power over here. Haven't seen them hassling any photographers either. The Olympic security quango has been getting some flak, but overall people seem to be more aware of infringements of the Canadian Charter and ready to slap down officials who overstep the mark. I look forward to your report later in the week!

Hope it goes swimmingly and I plan to be there next year.

Can't be at either by reason of the old toad work, but don't forget there's the LPUK pubmeet as well that evening (I plan to be there):

Sadly, I can't make it to tomorrow evening's discussions although I'm sure that I'm too much the "evil socialist" to be allowing into the ASI's hallowed sanctum.

However I am very interested on how libertarian welfare would work, much seems to be hand-waving and wishful thinking that the charity sector would magically expand to fill the gap. Can you post on here what you talk about to the ASI?

I think there will be a lot more than 20 people going this year.

DM Andy,

I would be happy to. When I go and speak at events, the topic is usually one that I have written about or am about to write about—simply because that is what my mind is occupied with at the time.

DK

P.S. I have changed the post to make it more clear, but the event is tonight (that is, Tuesday), not tomorrow...

Nice to know that you are taking the destruction of our democracy, so seriously!

Have no fear... US Patriots are armed to the teeth... and we've got two naffin' blokes with a megaphone... hugging people.

Harry. One bloke in sandals and a loin cloth managed to end the British Empire.

FatBigot. Get your arse down there for some "succulent beef "enrobed" in a rich pastry"
