Bummer

Posted by Devil's Kitchen at 2/25/2009 12:24:00 PM

For all that your humble Devil believes that he is a shifty, illiberal bastard, your humble Devil sends his condolences to David Cameron and family over the sudden death of their eldest son, Ivan.
Conservative leader David Cameron's eldest son Ivan has died in hospital.

The six-year-old, who had cerebral palsy and epilepsy, became ill overnight and died at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London.

It's a shitty thing to happen.

That is all.

Oh boo-fucking-hoo.

I'm not saying DC's not a loving dad, that is clear from the pictures. But let's not turn this into another Diana moment, of which I'm hearing creepy echos.

McBust escaped PMQs and the Tories let him when Hague was lined up to take on the ZaNu leader.

Losing a child is grievously painful but that should not have halted parliament.

How the fuck is commiserating with a politician about the death of his fucking child a "Diana moment"?

You've done something I never thought possible, Mike, you brainless shit-eating bastard. You've actually made the Parliamentary Labour Party look mature and classy by comparison with your behaviour.

Go get cancer and die in pain.

dk. what a twat. why you even bother to pretend you care is a mystery to me.

you still have to make political points even when passing on your message of condolence.

you probably shouldnt have bothered really considering your views on dead or disabled children.

I'm not sure which Anonymous I'm talking to here, but you do, so that's what counts.

DK calls him a "shifty illiberal bastard" (true), and you put your tongue up his ring and say "DK bang on"

I say "opportunistic" and "shifty" (also true) and you call me a cunt.

Get a fucking grip, you moron.

Assegai Mike - wrong on all counts, you utter wanker.

A couple of weeks ago, you couldn't move on this blog for all the useless bastards lining up to weep over Jade fucking Goody.

Now a six year old child dies and you're all lining up to laugh and sneer.

I'd tell you where to stick your assegai but you're such a colossal faggot you'd probably enjoy it.

Condolences to Cameron and all that, but this episode puzzles me. It was the number one news item on BBC yesterday. Why? Particularly on a day when a plane had crash-landed at Schiphol, killing the crew and several others. That was pushed into second place.

If Ivan Cameron was a public figure, it would make a bit of sense, but he wasn't. He was a very private figure in what is a private tragedy. I suspect that it made the news because he was a) a child, and b) disabled, and this meant that he was more important than anyone else in our politically correct age. As a piece of news it should really have been buried on page 10. And it was certainly no justification for cancelling PMQs.

And while political correctness is the subject, what about this holocaust-denying bishop? Isn't he entitled to his own opinion? I don't happen to agree with him, but for the life of me I can't see why having such an opinion is intolerable - particularly in age when it is now held to be equivalent to holocaust-denial to be sceptical that man-made global warming is happening, or that passive smoking causes lung cancer.

Anyone who thinks Cameron is anything other than a wonderful dad should read 'Cameron on Cameron' by Dylan Jones, which I've just finished. I left a short excerpt from the book about Ivan on my blog.

A truly tragic moment in British politics.

French Letters as a Tory,

How on earth is it a truly tragic moment in British politics? Get it in perspective, a child has died.

Labour hasn't won the next election. THAT would be a bloody tragic moment in British Politics.

Condolences and all that to the Camerons, but please do try and keep some perspective on the matter.

Unless you can show that "all" exhibited "weeping" for Jade Goody and "sneering" at Ivan Cameron, you comment is merely an illogical rant.

It seems that TV in particular fools the dim into believing they have a personal relationship with someone they have never met. I know none of the participants and therefore it is none of my business for either.

We can only begin to understand how the Camerons are feeling. I from my own personal circumstances maybe able to understand slightly more.

There is nothing wrong in expressing one's sorrow, but it is preferred with a stiff upper lip.
