For now, highlighted in screenshots by the rather good Tory Bear, it seems that Montgomerie likes to edit his contributors' writings in order to fit in with his petty personal prejudices.
Mike Rouse explains...
Tim Montgomerie, social conservative and esteemed editor of ConservativeHome, really hates YBF’s Donal Blaney. Not a little bit of mild disdain - outright hatred - and the feeling is mutual. It’s given us all a lot of entertainment over the past few months.
Such is the extent of Tim’s loathing of Blaney he even edits stories that are favourable towards YBF - an organisation Blaney founded. Recently, Alex Deane (former advisor to David Cameron) wrote the following on CentreRight, a spin-off from ConservativeHome:Praise for the Young Britons Foundation
“This weekend, together with my old debating partner, Jeremy Brier, I spent a day training young conservative activists in a day of advocacy and debating training organised by the Young Britons’ Foundation.
This organisation is doing exactly what we need to be doing - training the next generation, teaching them skills and showing them how to combat the left. They are to be applauded.
There is an enthusiasm for conservatism and conservative ideas amongst the young - we just have to help it”.
Within half an hour, however, the esteemed Editor had seen to it that the piece was blandly retitled “Conservatism on campus - the next generation of Tories” and the whole of the second paragraph, praising YBF for training the next generation, was excised.
Now, that's not very Christian of you, is it, Tim? You great big cunt, you.
As an adjunct to this, I have been told that there was considerable consternation when it was first proposed that your humble Devil should appear on 18 Doughty Street; Montgomerie reportedly shrieked something along the lines of, "you can't have him on here. He called me 'a cunt'!"
And here I am calling him a cunt again. Oh dear, oh dear: what a bad little Devil I am.
