More police-statery

I have largely ignored this bugging lark that's been going on, but it does seem to be exploding somewhat.
The full scale of a nationwide policy to bug British jails can be disclosed today after a whistleblower revealed that hundreds of lawyers and prison visitors had been secretly recorded.

The covert eavesdropping of the MP Sadiq Khan is alleged to be just the first case in a far wider operation to bug terrorist suspects and other serious criminals introduced after the September 11 attacks.

Lawyers, including the human rights solicitors Gareth Peirce and Mudassar Arani, were allegedly "routinely bugged" by police during visits to see clients at Woodhill prison. Listening devices were said to have been concealed in tables at the jail.

Nationally it is thought that many more people may have been covertly recorded.

Wow! The police have been over-stepping the mark yet again: is anyone surprised? As I said, the pigs at least seem to be acting as though Britain is already a police state, rather than simply being on the verge of being one.

However, as a friend pointed out to me this evening, the politicians are, as usual, acting atrociously too.

You see—despite being happy to bug us, track us with cameras, put our DNA on police databases, coral our ID onto another database, issue us with Stasi-delight ID cards, and put our medical details on yet another database (as well as quite joyfully selling that information to anyone who asks for it) and invade our private lives in a myriad of other ways—our elected representatives only kicked up a fuss when one of their own had his privacy invaded.

Let us look at some of the items on Sadiq Khan's voting record, shall we?
  • Has never voted on a transparent Parliament.

  • Voted very strongly for introducing a smoking ban.

  • Voted very strongly for introducing ID cards.

  • Voted strongly for Labour's anti-terrorism laws.

  • Voted very strongly against investigating the Iraq war.

As you sow, so shal ye reap, Sadiq, me ol' china. Since you are a hideous, fucking totalitarian cunt, and have voted strongly for a surveillance society and a police state, you really can't be surprised when you suddenly find that... well... you are living in a police state.

Please bugger off and hang yourself, you whining cunt.

But Mr Khan is an MP. Why should he consider that legislation that applies to you and me apply to him or his colleagues? Thank God that criminal behaviour by legislators in Scotland is exempt from such nonsense.
