Making everyone happy is impossible. Pissing them off is a piece of cake. I like cake.
If you repeat a lie a hundred times it is still a lie, but more people will believe it.
Every society there has ever been has therefore been built upon a lie. Yea, I like it.
"Man-made global warming" comes to mind.
Well, it seems to work pretty well for the '9/11 Truther' crowd...I suspect that if Einstein were to return from the grave, sit them down, explain very patiently about the temperatures at which steel loses its sctructural integrity, etc, they'd still think to themselves "Where did Bush get this Einstein lookalike..?!"
'"Man-made global warming" comes to mind.' Technically, this is a scientific concept. If you place a socio-political interpretation upon it, such as 'collectivism', then that would be a lie. Place a more reasonable interpretation such as the possibility of a better form of capitalism, then it may only be a teeny weeny white lie. As a scientific concept you'd have to compare it to Big Bang, evolution through natural selection, the subatomic particle, Newtonian gravitation, the behavioural gene. All possibly a lie if seen as absolute truths - certainly incomplete, possibly blind alleys - but all involving probability of accuracy.
