The complete and utter incompetence that the government has shown in mis-'managing' the NHS continues, the latest great example of this can be seen in the bungling form of the 'NHS Confederation'. Quite what is produced in exchange for a rather large amount of tax payer's cash is really anyone's guess.
The list of suggestions that this bunch of mentally challenged individuals came up with at their 2007 conference can be seen and laughed at here. Your laughs may unfortunately quickly turn to tears and then bull-like rage, as you realise that the government is paying this useless bunch of cretins to waffle with our money. It is all summed up rather well by the insightful suggestion of Carol Culshaw: 'Create improvement in the system'.
The government's idea of improving public services appears to be to create endless 'independent' organisations manned by idiots which simply gossip about 'improvement' and produce endless amounts of shiny propaganda material about 'improvement', in order to convince the public that they are actually doing something of use.
They are unfortunately doing nothing of use. They are wasting millions and millions of pounds in manning their ever proliferating network of manure factories. Incredibly in many PCTs there are now more managers than GPs. If they wanted genuine improvement then they could start by scrapping the likes of the NHS Confederation, and diverting the saved funds to the front line services who could actually convert this into some concrete gains and not yet more hot air.
This is Labour's wonderful legacy, a dysfunctional centralised top-down management structure that produces an inordinate amount of hot air and bugger all of any actual use to anyone.
