CiF Watch

Following a conversation with Matthew Sinclair, I am considering setting up a Comment Is Free Watch blog, so that those fucking loonies at The Grauniad would have a one-stop shop to find out precisely where, why and how often they are wrong-headed, mistaken or just plain stupid.

Would anyone like commit to contributing?

UPDATE: of course, cross-posting articles from your own blogs is allowed, nay, encouraged...

UPDATE 2: I notice that there is already a CiF Watch blog. I'm not entirely sure that another, big, team blog would not be amusing though. So, any takers?

Do we all really have the time to re-educate these people?

Ah go on then, a wee rant every now and then is good for the soul.

I am interested, too.

We should aim to tackle not just the source of the rubbish (PT et al) but the rats that feed off it.

When I get my new blog ('Question That') started, which is going to look at the beliefs and assumptions underlying differences of political opinion, I imagine there will be quite a bit of crossover with what you're planning here.

Not sure what you might mean by 'contribute' but I'll certainly make comment...

Commenting at (or even on or about) Comment is Free is only worthwhile if the comment is abusive and gratuitously offensive because the original article is almost invariably the work of a fuckwit.

I haven't looked-in there for a while but, owing to a prolonged mid-life crisis of a shatteringly fundamental form, I am currently incapable of writing anything worth reading and would enjoy hurling profane bric-bats at meretricious media mediocrities.

I'm certainly interested in the position, Mr Kitchen. Is there any money in it? I have a bar bill and eight creditors to support, as well as three wives and the Celtic parts of the 'U'K.

Chris Dillow's reply to this is interesting.

Ach well, CiF has just banned me. Though in fairness I'm surprised they put up with me for so long, given that 90% of my motivation was to strip the proverbial from their confusions of so-called liberalism and religious fascism.

I think the current policy is to bolster leftist participation, which means excessive moderation and untold numbers of bannings. I guess they are getting desperate now that the New Labour project is breaking apart on the rocks of Brown's inadequacy.
