It's not something that I would have necessarily worried about but for the lack of anything better to do on a Thursday night; besides, I am always happy to find any excuse for a piss-up and meet people and this seemed as good a time as any.
In any case, your humble Devil arrived at the back of 8—weilding his picture of a fucktrumpet (don't ask)—and, though experiencing mild trepidation, threw himself into the whole thing with abandoned glee. Great fun it was too.
Anyway, I digress; if you are living in London, I heartily recommend Friday Cities: London as a networking site. It seems mainly to be populated by professionals—including a disproportionate number of freelancers, writers and designers—and is a great resource site. Go online and share your London knowledge, or benefit from the knowledge of others; give and receive Kudos for amusing posts and wonderful suggestions; even find work (your humble Devil has already done so).
In short, go sign up: it could be a lot of fun, I think; and it certainly beats fucking MySpace or FaceBook mainly because it is populated by people born before 1985.
