It's time to invade Germany again
The last couple of times that the Germans attempted to impose their fucking values on us, we went to war with them and, with the help of the eeeeeeeeeeeeevil interventionist US, eventually kicked the fucking shit out of them. And, at this news, I can't help thinking that it might be getting about time to fuck them again because they are trying to impose their crappy values on us again.
Whilst the Germans have, after representations from Hindu groups, generously dropped the proposal to ban the swastika, the fuckers are trying to curb free speech (and thought).
Look, here's some fucking racism and xenophobia for you: fuck off, you humourless, German bastards, schnell! Seriously, what the fuck is going on with this? Just because you stupid sods have a problem with neo-Nazis and you cannot think of any way to deal with them does not mean that you should be able to tell the rest of us what to do, you cunts.
Helen at EU Referendum highlights how fucking stupid the whole thing is.
Look, with the Germans' history of tolerance we can well understand how restricting freedom of speech would appeal to the bastards, but here we have a slightly different standard (well, admittedly we are struggling against one of the most authoritarian governments in the country's history, but we are trying...). So, I'll stand here on my hill and shout, "fuck you, sunshine!" for as long as I can.
Needless to say, I wouldn't even have to worry about this if we weren't subject to the illiberal whims of other countries through our membership of the EU.
So, can we fucking well leave yet?

Germany, which currently holds the EU's rotating presidency, still wants to make Holocaust denial illegal throughout the EU to stem racism and xenophobia.
"Public incitement of violence and hatred or the denial or trivialization of genocide with racist or xenophobic motives" should be criminalized EU-wide, German officials said in Brussels on Monday. "But the plan does not include a ban on certain symbols such as swastikas."
The German EU presidency hopes that EU members will come to an agreement on the plan during the meeting in Luxembourg on April 19 and 20.

There are times when I read pronouncements by officials and politicians and nearly give up the will to live. What kind of an idiot thinks that public incitement or violence and hatred (something that is covered by the criminal law of all member states) is the same as the denial or trivialization of any historical event, however ghastly?
First of all, define trivialization. How does this solemn prig feel about Jewish jokes throughout the ages, whose aim was to trivialize the various problems the Jews faced. There are jokes about the Nazi system, about Jews in Germany under the Nazis and even about the death camps.
One of the most moving films about the Holocaust, though it dealt with the Italian side of it, was "La Vita e Bella", in which the main character hides his little son when the other children are gassed and pretends to him that they are at a holiday camp, playing a long and elaborate game. Trivialization? Well, I barely managed to contain my tears.
What of the whole genre of labour camp jokes that grew up in the Soviet Union? Oh sorry, those camps, even when they were part of attempted genocide, were not put up with "racist and xenophobic motives" or not overtly so. They can be trivialized and even denied.

From a Jewish perspective, there are those, including me,who would like Holocaust denial to be an offence.
DK, in a recent poll, only 38% of young people asked, knew what the Holocaust was. I find this disappointing, frightening and typical of the ignorance shown by much of this country's youth.
Figures, due to be released today, will show an increase in the number of anti-semitic attacks across Western Europe. DK, clearly you, and commentators like you, have learnt nothing from recent history? Besides, what planet have you been on? Are you aware of what happened in Tehran recently?
The German government has every right to say what it thinks and in this instance,I totally support them. This issue has nothing to do with our joint antipathy towards the EU.
Sorry to have a dig but as I'm sure you understand, I'm very passionate about many subjects; Holocaust denial and anti-semitism are two of them.
Jeremy,
Sorry, but you're wrong on this one.

That is a failure of our education system, nothing more. These are the kind of people who could potentially end up in prison simply because they have no idea that they are commiting an offence...
I'm sorry, but there is abso-fucking-lutely no way that people should be put in prison for expressing an opinion, OK? There's no half measures: either you have free speech or not.
By all means deliver better education, but how dare you support a move that could potentially put someone in prison for expressing an opinion.
By all means call them idiots or bigots, and take them apart in an argument, but there is simply no way that such a thing should be a criminal offence.
I'm actually fairly shocked that you could suggest such a thing. Suppression of opinion is very useful to totalitarian states and this lot really need no encouragement. First it's Holocaust denial and then what? Criticising the EU? Or your government? Will you be manning the gulags?
DK
And yet Theresa Villers would disagree with you...
