Fat bastard kids
In fact, I don't know if they are all technically bastards, but apparently 10% of Scottish children are obese, and even the ones who take exercise can be obese. Shock, horror! How could this happen?
Look, the body is a machine; if you burn less energy than you put into it, that energy will be stored as fat. How much more simple can I make this concept?
If the children who take exercise eat more, then the exercise will have no effect on weight loss because they are simply replacing the extra energy that they have burned.
And if they "take it easy" over the rest of the day, then their cumulative calorie burn is no higher than those who do not take part in the exercises.
And how does the Beeb headline this stunning revelation?
No, really, it is fucking simple, OK? I mean, it's not exactly rocket science, is it?
Fucking hell.
The belief that obesity can be thwarted by getting overweight children to take more exercise is misplaced, according to a new study.
Researchers from the University of Glasgow found that pupils at nursery who took part in exercise classes were no slimmer than other children.
It is thought the children compensated for activity by eating more, or taking it easy for the rest of the day.
