Scottish Enterprise still shit
Via David Farrer, I see that Scottish Enterprise seem likely to overspend their budget yet again this year.
Let me remind you that Scottish Enterprise exists, in theory, to help people attempting to run businesses; therefore, it is hardly encouraging that last year the agency effective went bust.
They had to be bailed out by the taxpayer and, as I reported last year, was unable to comprehend simple accounting procedures.
And it looks to be happening again. I mean, for fuck's sake...
MSPs were told yesterday there remains a risk that Scottish Enterprise will not meet its budgetary targets for the coming financial year.
...
Robert Black told Holyrood's audit committee that the actual cash overspend was only £6 million last year against a budget of £444 million, and should be kept in perspective.

The auditor general said that the economic development agency had taken measures to avoid a repeat of last year's problems, when it overspent its budget by £33 million.
They had to be bailed out by the taxpayer and, as I reported last year, was unable to comprehend simple accounting procedures.
That's right, ladies and gentlemen, the public-sector agency which is supposed, essentially, to help people to run, develop and keep their businesses going is, in essence, bust. Now that, Alanis, is irony.
And it looks to be happening again. I mean, for fuck's sake...

DK, you write apoplectically as if the agency going bust is somehow a surprise and then quote the accounting procedures. My thought is, 'Is it any wonder?' You should come over to Eastern Europe to see how they really go about this.
It's ok, they can take the money out of the English NHS or education budget. It'll be fine, nobody will notice an extra few million on top of the £20bn a year subsidy anyway.
really, there should be high praise for these fellows in imitating their seniors (the EU) so well. The Eu have not had there accounts signed off by an auditor for nearly 10 years.
tossers.
