Boris for Edinburgh rector

Via Mr Eugenides, we find that Boris is standing for rector of Edinburgh University!
The Tory MP Boris Johnson is to stand for the rectorship of Edinburgh University, it emerged yesterday.

The former editor of the Spectator magazine will face the award-winning journalist John Pilger, former Scottish Arts Council chairman Magnus Linklater and Green MSP Mark Ballard.

I never finished my degree at that august institution and, having left some seven and a half years ago, have no vote. However, I feel that it should definitely happen. As the P-G points out, it has to be better than the Jelly-bellied Flag-flapper*.

Maybe bookdrunk, Tiny Judas and The Fluffy Economist could help out...?

* Read Stalky and Co. It's a very fine book...
