Go, Go, Gadget Diversity!
The Gnome points out that diversity is a true boon for this country.
Coupled with this stupid idea (Via the P-G, the police really must be a bit confused right now.
I'm pretty confused to be honest: I've read that article over a good few times and I have absolutely no fucking clue what it is actually saying.
If any of you have been following the Gnome's Foreign Criminals of the Day series, you will understand that some people do not think that unbridled immigration is a good thing.
I would, thus, like to make my position absolutely clear. If foreigners wish to stay here, then they obey the rules: if they do not, we deport them. Personally, I don't give a shit if they think that they will be persecuted in their home country: if that is how they've behaved in a country which has offered them charity, I'm not surprised they are considered a pain in the neck in theirs. Nor do I care whether their country employs torture or the death penalty: they shouldn't have abused our hospitality.
Given all that, if they are law-abiding, then they should be allowed to work and make a living. They should not be discriminated against on grounds of race or colour (although, let's face it, linguistic dexterity is going to play a factor in most jobs), but nor should we be enforcing positively discrimination. If discrimination is wrong, then all discrimination is wrong.
So stuff your "Equal Opportunities" up your arse; employers will hire the best person for the job. And, in a role as important as that of the police, that must apply doubly so.
Immigrants and ethnic minorities comprise approximately 30% of London's population; so it's a clear failure of diversity that they comprise at least 66% of the most wanted list.

Police officers will not receieve performance-related pay unless they can prove they have properly promoted equality and diversity within their force, the Home Office has warned.
A 50-page official document, released last week, states that the awards of the competency-related threshold payment of around £1,000, to officers at the top of their individual rank, will be linked to their performance on race and diversity.
